Fire Safety Awarenss and Training

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, 1974 Health & Safety Act and the Management of Health & Safety regulation requires staff to receive appropriate fire training/instruction.

An employers obligation to their staff is to:
• Attain what hazards are present and what level of risk could employees be exposed (repeated periodically where appropriate).
• Keep up to date on new or changed risks to health and safety of the employees (repeated periodically where appropriate).

A basic fire training package should include:
• Theory of fire.
• Action in the event of fire.
• Action upon hearing a fire alarm.
• Means of escape.
• Fire prevention (control of ignition sources).
• Basic fire safety awareness.

Other persons who require specific training are:
• Fire Marshals.
• Responsible person (Fire Safety Manager)
