The work will be on going until March 2012. The contract will see the old ADT system being removed and replaced with an open protocol system. The three analogue panels and 16 conventional panels will be replaced, the network infrastructure and all loop cabling are to be upgraded to FP400 SWA fire rated cabling supplied by Edmundson Electrical.
North Sea Camp is an open Category D prison for adult males. Accommodation at the prison comprises of 4 units; 2 with multi-occupancy rooms, and 2 with single rooms. The prison also has a small terrace of self-contained houses for life sentence prisoners who are coming close to parole.
Activities for inmates include prison education, workshops and laundry. A number of prisoners work outside the prison on day release.
